The Netherlands looks set to impose a three week lockdown to break transmission in a new wave of Covid hitting the country.
A new pandemic record daily case count was recorded earlier this week with the country's version of NPHET recommending the partial shutdown.
Caretaker Prime Minister Mark Rutte is set to make a national address on Friday at 7pm once the country's Cabinet have trashed out the final details today.
Under the reported rules, all bars, restaurants and non-essential shops will be shut from 7pm each day.
The number of people allowed visit homes will also be cut while working from home will be recommended.
Schools are expected to stay open during the three week shutdown.
Around 85% of the adult Dutch population has been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 while the booster shots have been given to small cohorts.
The move also throws Irish tourists winter travel plans into disarray with Amsterdam being one of the more popular cities to visit in the winter months.
