Westbrook sets all-time NBA record for most consecutive triple-doubles

Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook became the first player in NBA history to record a triple-double in 10 straight games Monday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Westbrook scored his 10th assist in the fourth quarter to achieve the feat after he also had 18 points and 14 rebounds as he needed nearly the entire game to pass Wilt Chamberlain for sole possession of the record.

The former MVP tied Chamberlain with nine consecutive triple-doubles Saturday night against the Houston Rockets as he also set a career best during that game, as well.

Westbrook received a standing ovation from those in attendance at Chesapeake Energy Arena after dishing out his 10th assist in the game, and it was fitting that the feat occurred in Oklahoma City.

The triple-double for Westbrook against the Trail Blazers was the 127th of his 11-year career, and the 23rd this season. The Thunder have gone 102-24 all-time when Westbrook accomplishes the feat, and are 16-6 this season.
