Westbrook sets a new career best for consecutive triple-doubles

Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook recorded his eighth consecutive triple-double Thursday night against the Memphis Grizzlies, the longest streak of his career.

Westbrook scored his 11th point in the third quarter to achieve the feat after he also had 12 rebounds and 12 assists by that point of the game as the Thunder were leading the Grizzlies.

The former MVP had his seventh straight triple-double Tuesday night against the Orlando Magic as it marked the third time of his career he recorded triple-doubles in seven consecutive games.

Westbrook passed Michael Jordan for the second-most consecutive triple-doubles in NBA history and trails only Wilt Chamberlain’s nine consecutive for the most in history.

The triple-double for Westbrook against the Magic was the 125th of his 11-year career, and the 21st this season. The Thunder have gone 100-24 all-time when Westbrook accomplishes the feat, and are 14-6 this season.

Westbrook will look to tie the all-time record Saturday in Houston.
