Westbrook’s technical foul against Trail Blazers has been rescinded

The technical foul that Russell Westbrook picked up Monday night against the Portland Trail Blazers has reportedly been rescinded, according to Royce Young of ESPN.

The Thunder point guard was hit with a technical foul for talking trash to the Trail Blazers’ bench in the second quarter of the game on Monday, the 12th technical foul of the season for Westbrook.

The 12 technical fouls for Westbrook would have put him in a tie with Patrick Beverley and Draymond Green for most in the NBA but once the league officially rescinds the foul, he will stand at 11 techs.

Westbrook has slowed down considerably picking up technical fouls this season. He had nine technical fouls through his first 22 games of the season in December but has since picked up just two.

Players are suspended for one game once they reach the 16th technical foul threshold and continue to receive a one-game suspension for every two technical fouls reached after (18, 20, 22, etc.), according to the NBA.

Back in December, it seemed inevitable that Westbrook would eventually receive a one-game suspension but he has since cooled down and may avoid the mandatory suspension this season.
