West Yorkshire Police warning issued to Leeds United fans ahead of hotly-anticipated friendly

Marcelo Bielsa takes his Leeds United side to Guiseley AFC tomorrow evening in what will be the Whites' first outing since the final day victory over West Bromwich Albion at the end of last season.

The two-month hiatus of Leeds United action comes to an end with Bielsa expected to field some of the standouts amongst last season's U23 side which lifted the Premier League 2 Division 2 title.

Guiseley are set to welcome around 3,000 supporters to Nethermoor Park, a ground where the record attendance was for a Leeds United friendly back in 2018.

Tickets for the match sold out almost instantly as supporters clamoured to secure their chance of getting a glimpse of the team - and some new faces - for the first time since March 2020.

The Whites last played to a full house at Elland Road in the Championship, while only 8,000 spectators were permitted to the ground for Leeds' final day win over West Brom back in May.

For many attending Tuesday's friendly, this may be the first opportunity they have had to see those signed in the last 12 months in the flesh.

Guiseley have taken the opinion that this will likely contribute to an eager away following arriving at Nethermoor Park tomorrow evening, and have issued the following reminder to supporters attending the match:

"Whilst we understand that pre-season friendly matches at local clubs are usually an opportunity to get up close to the team and management, please remember that we are [in] very different times from the other occasions when we have hosted your team. We would ask that you please do not approach any player of member of staff and ask for a photograph or autograph or stand within 2m of them.

"It is vitally important that you do not enter the pitch even at the end of the match. Anyone who ignores this request will be identified and their details forwarded to West Yorkshire Police and you may be banned from attending matches, your reckless actions could prevent the team from fulfilling fixtures."
