West Yorkshire firefighters called to rescue sheep from rooftop

Firefighters rescuing cats from trees is an overused trope but the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) has now carried out a more impressive animal rescue: sheep.

Five sheep in their jurisdiction made the puzzling decision to leap onto a tiled roof from a neighbouring property.

The brigade, in a pun-laden tweet, said specialist animal husbandry training came in handy for the Technical Rescue Officer dispatched to rescue the sheep from the rooftop.

The officer and a local landowner rescued the animals by constructing a makeshift bridge, local media reported.

"Baaa-rmy behaviour," the WYFRS joked while pointing out that they deal with more than just fires.

"It wasn't quite the night on the tiles those sheep were hoping for!" they later tweeted

The service made no mention if any local cats were involved.
