A MAN who allegedly robbed a West Wallsend store at knifepoint on Wednesday will face court in Newcastle today.
Police will allege the 28-year-old entered the Carrington Street property about 10.50am before he threatened a female employee, 31, and demanded cash.
It is further alleged he fled the scene in a Toyota Camry with stolen number plates.
Lake Macquarie Traffic and Highway Patrol officers reported seeing the vehicle, which they stopped.
Officers spoke to the driver before a subsequent search allegedly found clothing and cash.
He was arrested and taken to Toronto police station and charged with robbery while armed, goods in custody and two counts of fraud.
The 28-year-old was refused bail to face court on Thursday.
