West Regent Street in city centre closed after 'fluid spill' on road

A busy city centre road has closed to all traffic following a "fluid spill".

The closure is in place between Blythswood Street and West Campbell Street.

Glasgow City Council confirmed the closure following the incident, which occurred at about 12.25pm this afternoon.

It is not currently known how long the road will be closed for or how the spillage happened.

A statement from the council reads: "Due to a fluid spill on the road, West Regent Street is closed between Blythswood Street and West Campbell Street.

"Updates will be issued when further information is available."

No diversions are currently in place following the spill.

UPDATE 3:25pm: Glasgow City Council have advised the road has new re-opened.
