West Pilton Avenue incident: Woman (42) in hospital after being found with serious injuries in stairwell

A 42-year-old woman was found with serious injuries in a communal stairwell at flats in Pilton this morning.

Police are trying to figure out exactly how she got her injuries. The woman is currently in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where officers describe her condition as "serious but stable".

She was discovered badly hurt in the stairwell, at an address on West Pilton Avenue, at around 5.25am this morning (Monday, 28 October).

Police want any potential witnesses, or anyone who knows exactly what happened, to come forward.

Detective inspector Mark Lumsden of Edinburgh CID said: "This incident has left a woman with serious injuries and we are urging anyone with any information to come forward.

"If you have seen or heard anything in the area either overnight, or in the early hours of the morning, please get in contact as any information could assist us with our investigation."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0346 of 28 October, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
