West of Scotland League unveil 'unavoidable' fixture revamp as dropout deadline passes

The West of Scotland League have handed clubs new fixtures lists after a string of clubs dropped out of the set-up.

Clubs in tier six and seven had until yesterday (November 14) to provide notice that they would walk away from the divisions.

Benburb are the latest club to pull-out following the likes of Lanarkshire sides Shotts, Cambuslang Rangers, Royal Albert and Larkhall Thistle.

Interim Management Group Secretary for the WOSL Kennie Young confirmed in a letter to clubs the Premier Division now has 14 clubs, with the three conferences have 12, 13 and 9 teams.

He noted "it is not possible to re-balance the conferences without major disruption to the results of the games that have already been played."

Young stated that the current fixture list provided to clubs will run until January 2, 2021 and he will "now work on publishing the remaining fixtures, but before I do so, I will be re-arranging some of the existing games to try to keep as many teams playing as possible each Saturday."

Following some early season fixture call-offs, Young noted that for some clubs the changes may "throw up a string of homes or aways, this is unavoidable and, again I hope to keep it to a minimum."
