The West of Scotland League have been pitched a reconstruction plan with the divisions plunged into chaos amid a mass exodus of clubs.
So far Auchinleck Talbot, Pollok, Cumnock and Kilbirnie Ladeside have withdrawn from the top flight, along with Whittlets and Petershill from the conferences.
With promotion and relegation set to be ruled out between tier six and tier seven and eight more clubs to leave, Lanarkshire Live Sport understands a pitch has been put forward to revamp the set-up.
Gartcairn committee man Craig Armstrong has put forward two plans to include relegation and promotion in the inaugural campaign to the Interim Management Group.
With Premier Division sides mothballing, the first proposal would see the next best-placed teams from last season's West Region Championship gain entry to tier six.
Currently, with four teams pulling out, this would mean Shotts, Renfrew, Neilston and Arthurlie going up.
The league would then proceed with the seven relegations and three promotions as planned, which will leave space for clubs returning after a season out.
In summary, this would mean that seven teams go down, three go up from the conferences, and the four teams who have withdrawn would retain their Premier Division status.
The second proposals is based on one team being promoted from the Premier Division to the Lowland League.
This would allow one space open in the top flight. Therefore the winners of three conferences could battle it out for promotion in a play-off format.
