Nine new teams have been accepted into the West of Scotland League with more expected to follow ahead of a new division kicking off in July.
St Peters, Harthill, Harmony Row, Kilsyth Athletic, Finnart, Glenvale, Campbeltown Pupils AFC, Westerton Utd and Broomhill Sports Club join as associate members and will ply their trade in a standalone WoSFL Development League.
The new set-up allows ambitious clubs time to get their grounds up to a standard that would make them eligible to join the WoSFL's Third Division as early as 2022.
The WoSFL is moving away from the current Premier/Conference system next year to adopt a linear league structure with the development league counting as Division Four.
The new clubs can only be 'promoted' if they meet specified ground criteria. Those who do will then be put forward at the WoSFL AGM for full membership and inclusion in Division Three alongside existing full member clubs.
That means clubs will not have to win the Development League to climb the ladder. However, they will be expected to get their facilities up to scratch within a set time with ground sharing not an option.
Ayrshire Football News understands WoSFL league chiefs are in talks with a further two clubs interested in joining the new set-up.
The conditions for entry for interested clubs can be found here.
