Ayrshire's non-league club's will remain in limbo until at least mid-February after the SFA entended the temporary suspension of lower league football.
The situation will be reviewed again on Sunday, February 14 in line with current lockdown measures implemented by the Scottish Goverment.
The decision – following a meeting of SFA top brass, league and club representatives – affects all teams below the SPFL Championship including Ayrshire sides competing in the West of Scotland League.
WoSFL chiefs said they emerged from the meeting with "positivity and hope" despite the fresh blow to clubs.
A spokesman said: "The Scottish FA advised us on the situation regarding testing and they accepted that it would not be possible at our level.
"They also accepted that there is still a desire for us to get back playing and we are prepared to tighten up our protocols if required.
"We were asked how long we would need to complete a season and our reply was that it was best if we waited to see what time we had and we would look at what we could fit into that timescale.

"A period for player fitness training was also discussed and again it was thought better to wait to see how long the lay-off was going to be before we set that out.
"It was quite a good meeting with quite a bit of positivity and hope and we believe the Scottish FA are aware of the common sense approach at lower league level."
Fixtures have been released for the first four matchdays if and when the WoSFL gets the green light to return.
An SFA statement said: "The Scottish FA has this week undertaken extensive consultation with representatives of leagues and clubs affected by the temporary suspension announced on Monday, January 11, 2021.
"This process has been beneficial in understanding the specific challenges faced by clubs at those levels within the men’s and women’s games, in particular understanding the key components required to facilitate return to play within each competition when it is safe to do so.
"Given that current lockdown measures implemented by the First Minister will now remain in place across Scotland until at least the middle of February, the existing temporary suspension of football will be extended until midnight on Sunday, February 14. This affects leagues with predominantly part-time clubs – although a number of full-time clubs have been affected.
"The Scottish FA will continue to work with those affected to develop league and division-specific plans for a return to training and playing, including adequate training and conditioning time. Those circumstances vary across our game and will be kept under constant review with any restart of the game likely to happen on a progressive basis.
"A further update will be communicated by Wednesday, February 10."
