A 25-year-old man has died shortly after he was found with head injuries in a south London street.

Officers said the young man was found at about 2am on Tuesday morning in Dunelm Grove, West Norwood.

His death at the moment is “being treated as unexplained”, Scotland Yard said, but enquiries are underway to find out how he received the head injury.

The man was rushed to hospital after being found, but died later that morning.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: “He was taken to hospital but sadly died later on Tuesday morning.

“His next of kin are aware.

“A post-mortem and formal identification will be arranged in due course.

“At this stage his death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances.

“Officers from the Met’s Central South CID are investigating.”

Victim: Ramane Wiggan was shot dead in south London earlier this year

The man was found with the serious injury just streets away from where another 25-year-old man, Ramane Wiggan, was shot in the head.

Just over two weeks ago, on March 27, Mr Wiggan, from Tulse Hill, was shot in the chest on a third-floor walkway on a housing estate.

Medics and bystanders battled to save him but he died at the scene 30 minutes later.
