The Five Sisters Zoo in West Calder on the hunt for perfumes and aftershaves for the animals.
The attraction said it needs unwanted fragrances to introduce different scents for animals to find just like they would with natural smells in the wild.
The Daily Record said it had shared images of animals rubbing themselves on objects that had been covered in different aromas.
And anyone with old perfumes, unwanted Christmas gift sets, or old bedding are being encouraged to give them to the zoo.
It said: “We often provide many of our animals with something called olfactory enrichment.
“This utilises the animals sense of smell by introducing different smells in to their environment. It can be anything from old bedding from an another species to even herbs and spices!
“Something that we also use for this is perfume and aftershave.
“We can spray it around the enclosures for our animals to find just like they would with natural smells in the wild.
“Often you will then see them rubbing themselves and rolling on it.
“If you have any perfumes or aftershaves that you no longer use we would be delighted to take them off your hands for our animals.
“You can hand them into the zoo reception if you are local or send them to us in the post.”
