West Lothian woman Betty celebrates her 100th birthday

Congratulations to West Lothian woman Betty Webster who has celebrated her 100th birthday.

Betty turned 100 on Tuesday last week and was surrounded by friends and family at Meadowvale Nursing Home in Bathgate where she lives. She was also joined by Lord Lieutenant Moira Niven and Provost Tom Kerr who helped her mark her special day.

Betty has lived all her life in Bathgate and was married to James, who passed away in 2011 aged 92. They have one son, also James.

When she was younger, she worked for the minister at St David’s Church, looking after his house. She would later devote her time to being a wife and mother while James worked for the fire service.

In later life she enjoyed working with her husband in their garden and making jam.

Betty had lived in her own home up until five years ago when she moved to Meadowvale.
