West Lothian vets launches new campaign to ensure dog owners clear up mess

A West Lothian vets has launched a campaign to make sure everyone cleans up after their dogs.

Westport Vets wants to help the local community clean from dog mess, an issue which has been increasing this past year.

It ran a competition for local schools and local children, to design a poster for the campaign. The winning poster for our campaign was designed by Juliette Yarwood, an 11 year old pupil at Low Port Primary School in Linlithgow.

Juliette’s poster will be displayed around Linlithgow as well as offered to local businesses with a supply poo bags for any who would like it, or currently have an issue with mess outside their premises.

The campaign offers education to the public and we hope to encourage owners to do their part to clean up after their pets. A map of Linlithgow which highlights where waste bins are currently located for public use in the town has also been created.

A spokesperson said: “As a Local community we are extremely fortunate to have so many waste bins available and would like to highlight this to the public to help to encourage their use.

“We will also be running a photo competition for dog owners over this weekend.

“The campaign will be launched as an event on the Westport Vet Linlithgow Facebook page, where all of the poster competition entries will also be featured, as well as daily posts on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

“Local businesses will be offered a supply of poo bags and a poster for their premises. Westport Veterinary Clinic also has a supply of poo bags available outside their practices for the public to use.”
