West Lothian town set for its first ever soapbox race

A West Lothian town will see its first ever soapbox race later this year.

Organised by Livingston Round Table, the race will see homemade soapboxes - motor-less vehicles raced on downhill courses - take on challenging obstacles, a fast course, and maybe even a water-based jump.

They are also in the process of securing a giant screen to broadcast the races to enhance the entertainment and make sure everyone can see all the thrills and spills.

The event will operate on a donation basis for spectators.

There will also be fast food, children’s attractions, shopping stalls and fairground rides - making it a day out for all the family.

The organisers are looking for daring schools, businesses, clubs, and members of the public to take part in the 2019 event.

If you think you have what it takes, early-bird entry is open until July 18, 2019.

Early-bird entry costs £40 per team - to enter, visit: https://www.livingstonsoapboxrace.co.uk/enter-a-team.

Livingston Round Table is a charity made up of men aged 18-45 who voluntarily hold fundraising events for charities and good causes including schools, clubs, and individuals who need a helping hand.

Over the past 10 years, the charity has raised over £100,000 for the local community through events such as fireworks night, Santa’s sleigh, and the Beer Festival.
