West Lothian superstar Lewis Capaldi mobbed by football pundits in beer garden

Singer Lewis Capaldi was spotted supping a pint with top Scottish football pundits who quizzed him on his views of the game.

Capaldi teamed up with Old Firm legends from the Open Goal podcast for a chat as beer gardens reopened across the country.

The Daily Record reports how the 24-year-old was with pals in Glasgow's Record Factory when he was joined by ex-Rangers stars Kevin Kyle and Andy Halliday and ex- Celtic player Frank McAvennie.

A video clip shows the Someone You Loved singer asked by Open Goal co-stars Paul Slane and Si Ferry about the burning issues in the modern game.

And Lewis joked there is 'more to life than football' after he was asked whether Man City starlet Phil Foden is better than Ranger legend Paul Gascoigne.

"There's been a lot of controversy. Phil Foden is better than Paul Gascoigne. Lewis, would you agree with that?" Paul asked.

Taking a sip of his pint, Lewis replied: "Listen guys, I think what's really important is that we all come together. It's been a hard couple of months.

"I think what I've really realised is that there are more important things in life than football."

The Open Goal gang then broke into song, with the whole squad singing along to the meme song It's Friday Then Saturday Sunday (What!).

Lewis then looked into the camera and said: "Wherever you are guys, I just want you to know - love each other, enjoy life.

"And I want to say something else, the Super League was a good idea."

Things quickly descended into chaos at the end of the clip, with Si appearing to steal Lewis' beer before the group sang Someone You Loved.

The Record Factory posted a picture of the star accompanied by the football stars, saying it was a "belter of a night".

The video quickly racked up more than 3,000 likes as fans took to the comments to crack jokes.

One wrote: "What a f***ing day out that would be man."

Another commented: "Those boys are absolutely blootered!"

A third wrote: "Lewis Capaldi has no idea what is going on."

Another commented: "The look of sadness Lewis gives the camera while they destroy his song."

Lewis has been quiet on social media for the past few months and has been working hard on music for his new follow-up album.

The singer was forced to cancel all his shows this year, including TRNSMT, due to making music.
