West Lothian stars Lewis Capaldi and Luke La Volpe win gongs at music awards

West Lothian stars Lewis Capaldi and Luke La Volpe were among the big winners at the Specsavers Scottish Music Awards.

The were held virtually this year due to the pandemic and Capaldi was one of the artists to appear during a special at-home acoustic performance, playing an acoustic rendition of two of his biggest tracks; ‘Before You Go’ and ‘Someone You Loved’, before accepting 2020’s Best UK Award sponsored by SSE.

He said upon accepting the award: “I just want to say a massive thank you to the Scottish Music Awards, for giving me the award for SSE’s Best UK Artist this year.

“I know people haven’t been releasing music or anything this year, so that’s kind of an award just for existing, I guess, but… I’ll take it.”

 

Meanwhile his pal Luke La Volpe picked up a prize for Best Breakthrough Awards (Male) sponsored by Notion Magazine, and afterward took to Twitter to thank fans for their support.

Hosted by Edith Bowman live from SWG3 in Glasgow, the awards ceremony took place virtually for the first time in its 22-year history.

The evening also featured performances from Amy Macdonald, Texas, Wet Wet Wet and more and the online event saw the country’s top artists come together to raise vital funds for
