West Lothian singer Susan Boyle praised after visiting local care home with gifts

Susan Boyle made a special visit to a local West Lothian care home after they put out an appeal for one resident to connect with his local 'idol'.

The 2009 Britain's Got Talent contestant is rarely seen in public but made two appearances in quick succession following her performance on stage during the final of the talent competition.

Days later, Heatherfield Care Home, in Armadale, shared a post on social media that showed one lucky resident posing next to the 62-year-old and he couldn't be happier.

Less than a week after the home shared an appeal hoping to catch the attention of Susan, she visited the activity hub for afternoon tea and also took the time to bring some gifts for residents including her latest CD and signed photograph.

The care home added that they have never seen residents so happy and thanked the singer for her visit.

They said: "We’ve been keeping a secret. As most of you will have seen, we put an appeal out on Facebook a few weeks ago hoping to connect one of our amazing gentlemen with his local idol Susan Boyle.

"Well we’ve only gone and done it! Less than a week later, Susan joined us in the Activity Hub for afternoon tea along with some of our residents and of course David himself. Not only did she spend time chatting to everyone over tea and cakes, she also kindly brought along some gifts for David including her latest CD and a photograph which she signed in front of him.

"We have never seen him so happy. He was positively star struck and we are beyond grateful for Susan and her team for setting the visit up. We strive to meet ALL of our residents individual needs. And at Heatherfield, we always go above and beyond to make them happy.

"Thank you Susan Boyle for making a local man, unbelievably happy. And thank you to each and every one of you who tagged, commented and shared our appeal until it reached Susan’s team."
