West Lothian singer Susan Boyle feared she could no longer perform after suffering stroke

West Lothian singer Susan Boyle has announced she suffered a minor stroke which left her doubting her capability for perform.

The health scare came as recent as last April, with the 62-year-old admitting it was 'crazy' to be back on stage so soon. The Britain's Got Talent star found fame after her spine-tingling audition in 2009.

Susan recently returned to the long-running talent competition alongside the cast of Les Miserables and belted out the same I Dreamed A Dream rendition which won over the nation 14 years ago.

As the Mirror reports, Susan and her Les Mis cast received a standing ovation from the audience in the Eventim Apollo.

Speaking to one of TV's most iconic double acts, Ant and Dec, she later opened up on the stroke she suffered last year, as well as discussing her disappearance from the showbiz circuit

"Susan, it is so lovely to see you, welcome," gushed Dec before he added: "It's hard to believe that you appeared on this show in 2009, 14 years ago.

"How does it feel to be back at BGT?"

The 62-year-old responded: "It feels great," which saw the audience give her a loud cheer as she continued: "It's really good.

"It's extra special for me actually, last April there, I suffered a minor stroke and I thought it'd be crazy to be back on stage and I have done it."

Judge Simon Cowell was full of praise for Susan and revealed he had known about the singer's ill-health. Since finding fame, Susan has kept her personal life out of the public eye and is rarely seen out and about.

Last month, though, she gave fans a rare insight into her life when she made an appearance alongside Peter Kay. The pair posed for a photo as she visited the Phoenix Nights star during his live comedy tour in Glasgow.

As Susan's official Instagram page posted the photo, they shared it alongside a photo of the pair's single cover image for their Comic Relief track, I Know Him So Well.

The caption then read: "A reunion 12 years in the making! Susan Boyle & Peter Kay back together again after she went to see his hilariously brilliant show 'Peter Kay Live' in Glasgow.

"How has it been 12 years since their Comic Relief video came out?!"
