West Lothian sides renew rivalry in National Shield contest

Local rivalry will be renewed for the first time in nearly four years as Linlithgow Reds host Livingston in the National Shield at Mains Park on Saturday.

West Lothian’s two rugby sides haven’t met in a competitive fixture since the Reds ran out 30-27 victors in an East League Division One clash in December 2018.

Livi were relegated that season and have plied their trade in the league below the Reds since. But they have enjoyed a fine start to the current campaign and will be eyeing a cup shock. The Reds, though, will be hoping to get back to winning ways after being edged out by North Berwick at the weekend and earn the local bragging rights in the process.

Kick-off at Mains Park is 12.30pm.
