West Lothian secondary school hosts sports day with a difference

Pupils at Cedarbank School in Livingston enjoyed a sports day with a difference recently at Xcite Craigswood.

The youngsters made their way around the throwing and jumping events that also included a number of less traditional activities for some light-hearted fun.

PE teacher Adam Cox said the event inspired the pupils, commenting: “Giving our pupils the opportunity to perform the jumping events into the sand and using the throwing areas and running on the track made the events more realistic for them. It also inspired the pupils to push themselves to the best of their ability.

“The pupils were saying it was awesome with the javelin and running on the track being highlights.

“One of the pupils commented that it was great fun and getting to compete in the events made them feel more confident in themselves.”

He added: “The staff at Craigswood could not have been more helpful in creating a great day for both our pupils and the staff.”

Head teacher Ms O’Hagen added: “It was a fabulous day for all pupils and staff and the facilities were excellent.

“We really appreciate the warm welcome from staff and look forward to working again with them next session.”
