West Lothian school shuts due to Covid-19 cases

A West Lothian school has been closed due to an outbreak of Covid-19.

The Ogilvie campus for children with additional support needs will be shut until December 1 after a number of cases were detected.

Staff members at the Knightsridge school have been required to isolate and children have been instructed to stay at home.

A West Lothian Council spokesperson said: “A small number of pupils have tested positive which has resulted in some pupils and staff having to self-isolate.

“With the number of staff now self-isolating the school is unable maintain the provision of remaining classes.

“A decision has been made to close the school until December 1.

“Parents have been informed and a programme of remote support to learners and families has been put in place.”

The Courier reported earlier how the virus is sweeping through schools in West Lothian, with a further 12 schools reporting Covid-19 outbreaks in the past week.

The council say only a small number of pupils were affected among the 12 schools, which is a drop from last week, when 20 cases were detected in schools.
