A Livingston schoolgirl has been praised for her fantastic drawing of a popular children’s book character.
Children at Williamston Primary School in Livingston enjoyed reading the Corrie’s Capers books, all about the adventures of a Westie called Corrie.
They found out that this series, written by the Mary’s Meals Community
Ambassador for the Isle of Arran, Alison Page, was helping children in other countries.
All profits from the sale of Alison’s books are donated to Mary’s Meals to help provide a daily meal for children in a place of education.
They produced some fantastic pictures of Corrie in her kilt and six-year-old Rowan Saunders’ picture was judged as Highly commended in the age six and under by Jean Bowden, formerly of newspaper and magazine publisher DC Thomson.
Alison said: “With Tier 4 lockdown and travel no longer permitted, I decided to launch Corrie’s Art Competition.
“Entrants were asked to draw or paint Corrie in their favourite place in Scotland.
Mrs Stephen circulated details of the competition to the families at Williamston Primary as an activity to enjoy at home.
“Over 40 entries were received from all over Scotland. Everyone did a great job!
“A special congratulations to Rowan from Williamston Primary who’s entry was Highly Commended by judge Jean Bowden, formerly DC Thomson.
“I much prefer visiting schools, nurseries and libraries and reading to the children but Covid has put a halt to that.
“In the meantime, I do have digital readings - more info is available at www.westie.scot.events or e mail corrie@westie.scot.
