West Lothian school fight video shared online as parents slam girl brawl

Shocking footage has emerged of a fight between pupils in a West Lothian high school that has sparked concerns from parents.

A number of students were caught scrapping on camera yesterday in Armadale Academy, East Lothian sparking concerns from parents who have kids that attend the secondary school.

The video seen by Edinburgh Live shows a number of students pulling each other's hair, kicking another pupil and hitting their peer.

But a school insider said the attack was a one-off and confirmed to Edinburgh Live that the West Lothian secondary has done an 'immense amount of work' to change its image of late.

There are at least two students involved in the rammy and all appear to be female with the scrap appearing to take place inside the academy.

The shocking clip sparked concerns from parents that an incident like that could happen during a school day.

Some parents labelled the incident 'sickening' and called for action to be taken.

In previous years there has been a history of anti-social behaviour and bullying within the school.

But recently, efforts are understood to have been made to ensure the school is a safe place for all the pupils with this incident branded an 'isolated' incident by the insider.

Parents of children that attend the school, however, have expressed their concern after the footage was circulated online.

A West Lothian Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of footage currently being shared on social media involving Armadale Academy pupils.

“This was an isolated incident and does not represent the safe and supportive environment of Armadale Academy in any way.

“Appropriate action has been taken by the school over the incident, and it is not appropriate to comment further.”
