West Lothian's Paige Turley wins Winter Love Island alongside Finn Tapp

Local girl Paige Turley has been named the winner of Winter Love Island 2020 in last night's finale in South Africa.

Paige, 22, and her boyfriend Finn Tapp, 20 scooped the £50,000 cash prize after being crowned the champions of the ITV hit show on Sunday night.

The singer, who is from West Lothian, is known to have dated Lewis Capaldi when she was 18, and he even made a cheeky jibe about her during the Brit Awards.

The pair overcame the odds to beat the bookies' favourites Siannise Fudge and Luke Trotman, reports the Daily Record.

Speaking to host Laura Whitmore, Paige said that it had been "such an amazing experience" and "filled with challenges".

While recruitment consultant Finn said: "F*****g hell, how did I blag that!?"

Finn revealed he had been won over by the Scot's humour, saying: "I wasn't wrong for picking her because she makes me laugh!".

The semi-professional footballer from Milton Keynes also broke down during the finalist's declarations of love.

He said: "Paigey, I want you to know I love you."

Paige – the first Scottish Love Island winner – told him: "You brought out a side to me that no-one has ever seen."

Meanwhile, couples Jess Gale and Ched Uzor came in fourth place, while Demi Jones and Luke Mabbott came in third.

Love Island producers also paid tribute to host Caroline Flack, who tragically died earlier this month, with a moving montage of clips from her time on the show.

Whitmore said: "Caroline loved Love Island, that's why tonight's final is dedicated to her."
