Lothian Running Club member Sarah Inglis finished sixth in the Olympic Marathon trial race in London - missing out on a place in the squad in the process.
The LRC ace, who lives in Canada, crossed the line in 2:34.09. Only the top two finishers were guaranteed a place in the Great Britain and Ireland team for the Tokyo Olympics later this year, provided they finish inside the qualifying time of 2:29.30.
Inglis was among a group vying for the runner-up spot as Steph Davis broke clear of the field, but began to feel the pace with around eight miles left.
Despite that, she battled on to the finish, securing sixth place in what was only her second competitive marathon.
There was some good news, though, as her time was comfortably inside the qualifying standard for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, due to be hosted in Birmingham.
