West Lothian runner Sarah Inglis bids for Olympic Games marathon qualifying time

Lothian Running Club's Sarah Inglis will travel to London from her home in Canada to attempt to attain a marathon qualifying time for a place in the GB & Ireland team for this summer's Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The country's best distance runners are set to battle it out on Friday over a course in Kew Gardens bidding for a place in Tokyo later this year.

In her debut marathon in Arizona just before Christmas, Sarah agonisingly missed out on the required time of 2:29.30 by a mere 11 seconds, crossing the finish line in 2:29.41.

The top two finishers who are inside the qualifying standard will be guaranteed a place in the squad.

The race will start at 8am and while spectators will not be allowed to attend, the race will be streamed on the British Athletics website.
