West Lothian residents urged be 'vigilant' after thugs go on car theft spree

Police are urging residents in West Lothian to be vigilant after a recent spate in car thefts earlier this week.

At some time during the night, between Sunday and Monday (April 28-29), several vehicles were stolen and sheds and garages were broken into in the Murieston area of Livingston, on Bankton Park East and Bankton Park West.

Officers say the incidents appear to be linked and are appealing for witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity in the area and members of the public who may have CCTV or dashcam footage.

Constable Andrew Tuplin of the Community Investigation Unit said “As a result of this recent spike in criminal activity patrols in the areas have been increased and residents are asked to remain vigilant and contact police immediately should they see suspicious activity.

"It is important that residents remember to lock doors of their homes and vehicles, and items of value are kept out of sight."

Anyone can call 101 quoting incident number 1232 of 02/05/2019. or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
