West Lothian residents hit with early morning power cut with several post codes affected

Households in West Lothian have been hit with an early morning power cut this morning.

The power outage came without warning and Scottish Power Energy Networks, who are responsible for delivering electricity in Scotland, said they only became aware of an issue shortly after 8.00am.

It is understood the power cut is affecting postcodes in Bathgate and Livingston, including: EH47, EH48 and EH54.

The energy providers have said they will attempt to return power remotely while an engineer makes their way to the site to repair the fault.

However, power is not expected to be restored until after 10am this morning.

A statement on Scottish Power Energy Networks' website reads: "Our team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 10;15am. Once they arrive, or when we receive any update regarding the cause, we will be able to provide you with more information.

"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."

While some residents have voiced on social media that their power supply is "fine", a Seafield local said they had been without power since 8:10am.
