West Lothian remains fourth lowest on Public Health Scotland charts for Covid-19 vaccinations

West Lothian remains fourth lowest in Scotland for Covid-19 vaccinations.

The latest Public Health Scotland (PHS) data as of March 13 revealed that Edinburgh is the worst performing council area, with 31.4 of their residents vaccinated with their first dose, Aberdeen were next with 33.5 per cent and Glasgow were third lowest with 33.9 per cent.

West Lothian has vaccinated 38 per cent of all residents with their first dose, 56,024 people in total, with 3.1 per cent having received their second dose.

Last week NHS Lothian told The Courier that a lack of supplies is the reason for West Lothian’s bad performance on the PHS charts.

However, a source insisted that West Lothian would soon be performing better on the charts with the vaccination centre in Bathgate that opened last month expected to have a big impact.

Na h-Eileanan Siar remains top of the PHS data tables, having vaccinated 63.1 per cent fo their residents, Shetland Islands are next with 53.9 per cent of their population and Dumfires and Gallloway are third highest with 53.7.

The PHS chart also shows that Scotland has now vaccinated 163,895 clinically and extremely vulnerable individuals with their first dose of the vaccine.

Another 32,849 care home residents have received their first dose, and 47,368 staff.

And 314,438 front line health and social care workers.

In total, 1,888,697 people, 41.6 per cent, have received their first dose in Scotland and 160,038 have had both doses.
