West Lothian publisher releases first storybook for children

A West Lothian publisher has launched its first book.

PMGJ Storybooks for Children is a brand-new start-up based in Livingston and they have already released their first title, ‘Fash, Chaps n’ Banz.’

Talented storyteller and illustrator duo, Paul Walsh and Graeme Young, from Mid Calder, created the company after a life-long friendship.

The creative pair both studied music and art and they say that comes to the surface with their first title.

Paul explained: “The story is based upon the members in my family - my two children, wife and of course, dog!

“Like many families we have our own silly banter, and one day I was cooking dinner and started singing a bonkers song that popped into my head. I don’t want to give away the story too much, but let’s say it’s utterly ridiculous and had our family in stitches.

“Given Graeme and I are now in our 30s it’s fair to say we’ve maybe had our chance at musical success, but getting together and hammering out this fun-filled story out during lockdown has allowed us to demonstrate our creative side once again.

“We’re looking forward to continuing the journey and expanding upon our early success – so much so that we’re releasing ‘JumJum the Zum Brum’, a story about an unexpected and funny-smelling dinner guest, ahead of schedule in December.”
