West Lothian police launch probe into 'deliberate' blaze at Armadale home

Police have launched an appeal for information after a home was deliberately set on fire in a West Lothian town.

Officers believe the blaze in the Lower Bathville area of Armadale on the afternoon of Sunday, May 30 was sparked intentionally.

Fire crews and emergency responders rushed to an address on the residential street shortly after 2pm to tackle the fire at a property.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) teams beat back the flames, with no injuries reported as a result of the terrifying incident.

But officers carrying out initial investigations over the origins of the fire now believe it was started deliberately and have implored neighbours with any information to come forward.

Detective constable Marc Lunn, of Livingston CID, said: “Thankfully nobody has been injured as a result of the incident but substantial damage has been caused.

“We are appealing to members of the public who may have noticed anyone acting suspicious in the area to come forward and speak to officers.

“I would ask if anyone has possible dashcam or CCTV footage that could assist with our investigation to contact police."

DC Lunn added: “Police can be contacted on 101 quoting incident number 2202 of Sunday, 30 May, 2021.”
