West Lothian police charge man over death during 'disturbance' at Bathgate home

A man has been charged over the death of another man following a ‘disturbance’ at a house in Bathgate.

The 32-year-old was arrested after police rushed to the ‘contained event’ on Falside Crescent in the West Lothian town shortly after 8pm on Monday, July 5.

A 42-year-old man died during the incident and has now been named by officers as Keith Allan.

A post-mortem examination later revealed the cause of death to be murder, leading to police charging the suspect on Tuesday evening.

Officers said the incident posed “no risk to the wider public,” though noted local residents may continue to see an increased police presence in the area while enquiries are ongoing.

The suspect is due to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Wednesday, July 7.

Detective Inspector Brian Manchester said: “Our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone affected by this tragic incident.”

He added: “Local residents may continue to see a police presence in the area but this is being treated as a contained incident and there was no risk to the wider public at any time.”
