West Lothian plan for over 100 new homes with views of the River Almond Valley

Plans have been revealed for over 100 new West Lothian houses with views of the River Almond Valley.

West Lothian Council validated the proposal from Robertson Homes on Tuesday October 19.

The proposal seeks to provide around 125 new homes along with associated open space, landscaping and infrastructure at the site north of Calder Park Road (B7015), Mid Calder.

It is envisaged that the homes will include a mix of house types and sizes, including detached, semidetached, and terraced housing.

The proposed development lies within the catchment area of Mid Calder Primary School and West Calder High School which would serve as the non-denominational schools for the site.

The denominational schools serving the site are St Paul’s RC Primary School and St Margaret’s Academy.

Calder Park Road (B7015) runs along the southern boundary of the site. The B7015 forms the main eastwest route through Mid Calder, providing access to East Calder to the east.

The B7015 connects to the B8046 at the south western corner of the site. The B8046 provides access to Livingston Road (A899) to the north and the A71 to the south. The B7015 is a single carriageway road currently subject to a 40mph speed limit. The speed limit changes from 40mph to 20mph at the T-junction with the B8046 to the south west of the site.

West Lothian Council are expected to make a decision on the proposal in the coming weeks.
