West Lothian pals raise close to £1000 for Macmillan

A group of big hearted ladies embraced the new craze of ‘swishing’ to raise money for Macmillan.

Sisters and friends Lorraine, Carol, Nicola, Jenny and Natalie decided to host their own swishing event in Linlithgow last week to raise money for the charity and it was a great success and lots of fun.

Swishing is when you ask people to bring along three (or more) quality items they no longer wear and exchange them for a few items they would like to wear.

Lorraine said: “I was a bit nervous to start with, but it all went really well and it really didn’t take a lot of time to plan and organise, we all enjoyed it and so did everyone that came along, we had hoped to raise around £300 but we’re absolutely astounded to raise £931. People were so generous.

Senior fundraising manager, Pauline Macmillan said was really happy to support the girls on the evening.

She said: “What a great event, everyone was really enjoying themselves, and they raised an incredible amount for people living with cancer.”
