An old farm steading and milk dairy in West Lothian is to be redeveloped to form new luxury homes.
West Lothian Council granted permission to the developer on October 4 to convert existing buildings and erect another three new properties.
Once complete all six homes on the rural site, between Fauldhouse and Longridge, will be three and four bedroom units, suitable for families. The design of the new dwelling is to be contemporary in style but rooted in the character of the existing farmstead.
The existing farmhouse and farm buildings are to be upgraded and new units carefully placed on the site of previous buildings.
The property developers, Levenseat Limited, state on the planning application that each property on the site will have: “A proper utility room with back door leading to garden for outdoor drying if required, garage parking for one car and additional parking for a second car and visitor parking, good sized and protected gardens with enough space for outdoor patios and family living.”

Stonehead Farm Steading is located to the south of the B7010, between Fauldhouse and Longridge in West Lothian.
The existing buildings consist of a group comprising a farmhouse and ancillary farm buildings, including a previous dairy, various barns and a grain silo.
The historic building footprint on the site reflects the agricultural nature of the previous occupier, with remnants of previous buildings evident by the areas of hard standing and foundations, walled structures to the south and east of the existing building cluster.
The site has also been subject to opencast mining and shale working and spoil heaps are evidentin the surrounding landscape to the south.
