West Lothian nursing home residents paid their respects with homemade poppies for Armistice day

Residents at a West Lothian nursing home found a creative way to mark Remembrance events last month.

Elderly people living at Woodlands Nursing Home in Livingston made and sold their own poppies and raised £23 to donate to Poppy Scotland.

They also held a special social-distanced memorial and moment of silence for Armistice Day after creating a poppy monument in the garden and a wreath to lay next to decorated crosses.

Activity coordinator Daniel Heath said: “The current restrictions, though necessary, are obviously hampering our plans for group activities, but we’re working hard to keep our residents happy, active and fulfilled, and the residents – some former military - wanted to remember the fallen and do their bit for Poppy Scotland, pandemic or no.”
