A West Lothian nursing home has been closed to visitors and new admissions after staff members contracted Covid-19.
Heatherfield Nursing Home in Armadale said that during routine testing a “small number” of staff were found to have the virus.
The doors have now ben closed to relatives and new admissions.
The home is run by Holmes Care. A spokesperson for the company said: “Following a small number of staff testing positive for Covid-19 during routine testing, Heatherfield Nursing Home is now closed to new admissions and non-essential visits, in line with guidance from Public Health Scotland.
“We are working closely with all relevant authorities to contain the spread of the virus.
“The staff members who have tested positive show no symptoms of the virus and they are currently completing the required self-isolation period. Residents and Staff have all received PCR tests, and all affected members of our community are self-isolating as we await the results.
“We continue to monitor and care for all residents in isolation, in line with Scottish Government advice.
“As soon as the first staff member tested positive for the virus, we acted immediately to inform the relevant authorities and arranged for all colleagues and residents to be tested. We are testing staff and residents regularly and are keeping all relatives informed of their loved ones’ wellbeing accordingly.
“We continue to follow all public health advice in relation to infection prevention and control, and we are doing everything in our power to safeguard the health of all residents and team members.”
