West Lothian nursery keeping keyworkers' children entertained during lockdown

Bright Horizons nursery in Livingston have been keeping the children of keyworkers happy and entertained throughout lockdown.

Staff have been providing critical childcare for keyworker families for the past nine weeks and in this time they have been ensuring that the children have been taking part in a variety of activities both indoors and out.

In the first few weeks the children were very interested in the rainbow trail in West Lothian as well as the bear hunt trail. The children helped make displays in our nursery window for the local community to see and they enjoyed being part of the rainbow trail.

Their next project was to send some lovely pictures to the Medical Admissions Unit in St John’s Hospital, the children loved receiving a picture of their drawings displayed in the unit.

And most recently they decided to hold a social distancing ‘music festival’.

They had a great time exploring music throughout the decades, used props to become rock stars, had festival activities set up in the garden and had lots of fun making their own musical instruments such as shakers and drums out of boxes and tins.

Nursery Manager, Eilidh Sayers, is planning along with the children a variety of fun events for the coming weeks.
