West Lothian musicians will get toes tapping at world's biggest ceilidh

Livingston-born musicians Alec Dalglish and Fraser West are set to make history this winter, when they perform with their band Skerryvore at the world’s biggest ever ceilidh taking place at The Ovo Hydro, Glasgow.

The first ever Hoolie in the Hydro will see some of Scotland and Irelands’ top musicians come together for what has the potential to be the biggest night of traditional music to ever have taken place.

Multi-award-winning Celtic rock band Skerryvore was formed on the Isle of Tiree 17 years ago, and the eight-piece has been growing in success and popularity ever since. With a sound that combines traditional musical roots with contemporary rock and pop, the band are known for their lively performances and undeniable ability to captivate and enthral audiences.

Skerryvore’s talented lineup includes Alec Dalglish on guitar and vocals and Fraser West on drums, along with brothers Daniel Gillespie on accordion and Martin Gillespie on pipes, whistles and accordion, Craig Espie on fiddle, Jodie Bremaneson on bass, Scott Wood pipes and whistles, and Alan Scobie on keyboards.

Marking the first time an arena has been hired by an individual in the UK to showcase a night completely dedicated to traditional music, Hoolie in the Hydro will be an important night for bands and musicians on the traditional music scene.

Alec Dalglish said: “I’m honoured to be involved in Hoolie in the Hydro with the band, it’s set to be a historic and momentous night filling one of Scotland’s most iconic venues with traditional music.”

Hoolie in the Hydro will take place on Saturday 17th December 2022 and tickets are on sale now at: www.sec.co.uk/events/detail/hoolie-in-the-hydro
