West Lothian man raises thousands for charity for past four years

A West Lothian man is celebrating after raising thousands of pounds for charity.

Gerry O’Rourke, who works for Drummond Distribution in Armadale organised a charity football match with his colleagues and staff from Schuh and they raised £1000 on the day which was split between Macmillan Cancer Support and Clic Sargent.

The cash raised bring the total he has collected in the past four years to £5000.

Local lead volunteer from Macmillan Cancer Support, Jacquie McKenzie, was delighted to catch up with him and hear about his exploits.

She said: “At Macmillan we are 98 per cent funded by generous donations like this, so we simply couldn’t offer the vital support we do to people living with cancer without people like Gerry and his team mates and we are so grateful to have their support.”

If you would like to host an event for Macmillan, sign up on their website www.macmillan.org.uk/yourevent or call the supporter care hub on 0300 1000 200 and they promise to help you every step of the way.
