West Lothian man left with horror injuries after 'disturbance' followed by flat fire in Livingston

A West Lothian man has been left with horror injuries after a fire broke out at a flat.

Police officers raced to Juniper Grove in in Livingston last night after the alarm was raised over a 'disturbance' at around 6pm.

Mercy crews then rushed the victim to the local hospital burns unit for emergency treatment

It is understood investigators will look into whether the man set himself on fire as part of their probe.

It comes after 'specialist negotiators' were also called to the scene with police to help the victim.

Eyewitnesses reported 14 police cars swarm the scene yesterday evening.

Police Scotland said: "Around 6pm on Saturday, 8 May, 2021, police received a report of a disturbance and subsequent fire within a flat in Juniper Grove, Livingston.

"Emergency services attended, including specialist negotiators, and the man was taken to hospital.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
