West Lothian man charged with over 20 vehicle crime offences in two week period

A 23 year old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a series of thefts from motor vehicles and other related crimes in the Livingston and Mid Calder area.

The male has been charged with over 20 offences in just a two week period between June 23 and July 6.

Enquiries have been ongoing into thefts from motor vehicles in the West Lothian area as well as other related crimes as part of Operation Rampion, a dedicated operation targetting acquisitive crime.

The male appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday (Wednesday 8th July).

PC Adam Gow from the Proactive Crime Team based at West Calder Police Station said: "I would urge anyone who has any concerns about vehicle crime or suspicious activity in West Lothian to call 101 as soon as possible to allow us to investigate, and to remain vigilant in keeping their vehicles secured when unattended.”

West Lothian is currently facing a spate of vehicle crimes during lockdown, we reported yesterday on how a van was petrol bombed in the East Calder area and last week Bathgate residents were left terrified after a street full of parked cars went alight.
