West Lothian locals rally round nurse who had car window smashed after 12 hour shift

A West Lothian nurse told how she discovered her vehicle vandalised after working a 12-hour shift at St John's Hospital in Livingston.

The key worker who wished to remain anonymous found her car windscreen smashed when she returned to the hospital car park to drive home at around 6.55am on Friday.

She put up a social media post to warn others with the caption: "Just a wee heads up. My poor wee car had its window smashed at St John's today. I'm a nurse there and just finished my shift. Just what you wanted."

The nurse spoke to Edinburgh live about how there had been reports of anti-social behaviour in the area the night that it happened.

She added that she was 'overwhelmed with kindness on Facebook from people offering up their car or asking if she needed help to pay the damage.'

She was inundated with messages of support from locals (Handout)

Upon hearing what had happened, one local said: "So sorry to hear this, hopefully, doctor's CCTV will have picked it up...hope you get sorted."

Another added: "Honestly this makes my blood boil. You were working which is bad enough but what if you had been in there watching your dad die or being told some really sh** news."

A third penned: "This is awful Issy. If only they knew how valuable and precious you are in work...you shouldn’t have to deal with this at the end of a shift."

The nurse responded to locals saying: "The nurse said: "People have been so kind thank you all very much. I've had some lovely offers of help. Shows there is kindness in the world."
