West Lothian Labrador ate its owner's engagement ring... and vets found even more inside

Pets can be expensive, but rarely do they swallow up the most valuable items in your house.

A dog owner in West Lothian recently found out their Labrador puppy was fond of shiny things and wasn't quite old enough to know the difference between food and jewellery.

Brodie had swallowed an engagement ring whole and the guilty-looking dog was taken to Ayrton Veterinary Hospital in Whitburn to have it removed.

The young pooch was given an injection to bring up his breakfast, which led to vets discovering he had also swallowed a 5p coin.

Ayrton Veterinary Hospital posted on Facebook: "Here's a story with a certain ring to it....

"Naughty Labrador puppy Brodie paid us a visit recently after eating his owner's engagement ring!!

"Vet Laura gave him an injection to make him sick and he brought up his breakfast, a 5p coin and the ring! Here he is looking a little guilty."
