A West Lothian knitting enthusiast has been raising money while giving people comfort thanks to her cuddly creations.
Nurse Angela Brown has raised £1000 for Boghall Drop-In Centre by selling her NHS-themed handknitted teddies.
Angela said she started out by making teddies for her grandchildren and her hobby blossomed from there.
She said her mother-in-law as a great knitter and Angela found wool in her house which the family was clearing out after she sadly died.
Angela explained: “I decided to knit teddies for my grandkids for them to keep as a reminder of this pandemic.
“My daughter, Jacaline put a picture up on Facebook and I was then inundated with orders so I thought, if I could raised a few hundred pounds for the drop in centre it would be great.
“They do an amazing job and help everyone. I was brought up in Boghall and now live in Wester Inch but my daughter stays in Boghall and my grandsons go to St Columba’s, which was also my school.”
Angela has now handed a cheque into the drop-in centre and she will donate any more money she makes to St Columba’s.
She continued: “I have been nursing for 37 years and am retiring in October.
“My colleagues all helped with making NHS badges and doing some knitting for me to put the bears together.
“The bears have been sent to Ireland, America, Spain and Holland and never for a minute did I think we would raise more than £1000, but I couldn’t have managed without the help of my friends and colleagues, I want to give a special mention to Angela, Louise, Jenby and Rosie
“Boghall Drop-In Centre said they will use the money to help the elderly and kids at Christmas in these uncertain times.”
