West Lothian is placed in Tier 3 of lockdown restrictions

West Lothian will be placed in Tier 3 of restrictions, the First Minister has annonced.

Nicola Sturgeon announced today details of the five-tier structure of lockdown restrictions that will come into force on Monday.

The First Minister also announced travel restrictions, saying: "If you live in a level 3 council area or in future a level 4 area, please do not travel outside the council area you live in - unless you require to do so for essential reasons.

"And if you live in a level 1 or 2 local authority area, you must not travel into a level 3 or level 4 council area except for essential purposes.

"By essential purposes we mean things like work – if you really cannot work from home – education, local outdoor exercise, healthcare or caring responsibilities, and essential shopping where that is not possible locally."

West Lothian joins the rest of the central belt and Lanarkshire under Tier 3 restrictions after 117 new Covid cases were recorded overnight in Lothians with 37 further deaths in Scotland.

The restrictions are a continuation of those the central belt are currently under, alcohol sales will not be permitted indoors or outdoors. All leisure and entertainment venues are closed.

Indoor exercise, which includes gyms, will be restricted to individual and not group exercise.
